World Ostomy Day 2025, observed on Saturday, October 4, is an opportunity to raise awareness and celebrate the resilience of individuals living with ostomies.
Organized by the International Ostomy Association, the Ostomy Association of the Americas (OAA) will be the lead host for this global event that promotes education, advocacy, and support for ostomates, their families, and caregivers.
The theme for 2025 is “Invisible Disabilities: Visible Support … The Global Unity of Ostomates” Rational: Bringing light to uncover the invisible ostomy and create visible support, fostering conversation, global awareness, and ensuring equity for our communities both locally and globally.
It emphasizes empowerment and inclusivity, aiming to reduce stigma and improve access to healthcare and resources. Through workshops, community events, and social media campaigns, World Ostomy Day inspires understanding and encourages dialogue, ensuring that those with ostomies can lead full, confident lives.
